New York, New York

If you follow me on twitter, you'll probably already know that in less than two weeks I will be bouncing through Heathrow airport ready to board a plane to the one and only NEW YORK CITY - just a little bit excited, as you can tell.

Anyway, I thought I'd write a little post about the things I'll be getting up to whilst I'm there as I love reading about other people's holiday plans and then reading the follow-up posts.

So, we jet off to New York at the end of the month, just in time for my 19th birthday. We're staying at the Waldorf Astoria hotel for one week (yes I am going to pretend I'm out of Home Alone). I will be spending my birthday evening watching Mamma Mia on Broadway with my family - which I've heard they get you up dancing in the aisles, which I can't wait for: who can say no to a booty shake?!

My dad has also booked a few tours for us including the New York City pass which enables you to go to the "Top of the Rock" (Rockefeller Center), the Empire State Building, the American Museum of Modern History (from the Night at the Museum film), the Museum of Modern Art, and the Statue of Liberty cruise.
Another tourist-y thing booked is the "Hop on Hop off" bus which travels through the different boroughs allowing you to sight-see and like the name suggests: hop off and have a look if you want to.

Last but not least, the thing that I am most excited for (which to some people may sound a little morbid) is a 2 hour tour around the Ground Zero memorial with one of the 9/11 survivors as our tour guide. I know it's going to be an emotional 2 hours but I'm so intrigued to hear their story and hopefully ask them a few questions (that's the journalist inside me trying to come out.)

Other things I'm wanting to do whilst I'm there is take a wander round Central Park and hopefully visit the zoo, meet my friend again from Brooklyn, visit Sephora and Victoria's Secret, buy American make-up, eat at Taco Bell & Wendy's, find a pancake house, go thrift shopping, visit Serendipity (and see if it compares to Sunderland's finest) and lot's of other things that I'm going to attempt to cram into the 7 days, eek!

If you have any suggestions on places to go, brands to buy, places to eat in NY etc
Pretty please let me know.

Thankin' you.
